When my family went on vacation a couple of years ago, my mother and father were the ones that did all of the driving to our destination. When my mom became ill, my father purchased a short term car insurance policy so I could help him drive home. Because I was the only one of my siblings that was old enough to drive, I accepted the driving duties to help my dad drive home. I did not know anything about short term car insurance, and I was curious, so I asked my dad to explain how it worked. He told me that people that needed to drive a vehicle that did not belong to them could purchase short term car insurance to cover them while they were using the car. He said that the insurance would protect both the driver of the car and the car in case there was an accident. Luckily, there were no accidents on the way home, and mom got to feeling better soon after we made it safely home.
